About your photo session:

Punctuality: Please try to arrive for your portrait session at least ten minutes early. It is extremely important that you arrive on schedule. If you are late it will shorten your session time. If you would like to get ready at our studio, we have a large restroom and a 2nd dressing area, so please arrive early so that you will have adequate time to be ready at your scheduled appointment time.

Eyeglasses & Sunglasses: Glass glare on some shaped lenses is nearly impossible to avoid. If possible please bring along an empty pair of frames similar to your own for your session. This will avoid any extra charges to remove glass glare. Many optometrists will loan you a pair of frames at no charge.

What to wear: solids always photograph better than prints. Please avoid stripes, prints and patterns. Also avoid clothing with any wording or large brand names on them. In almost all cases, it is wise to bring extra outfits, and we will help you decide when you arrive. White or pastels usually are best, while basic primary colors as well as black and white are great for casuals. Denims also photograph nicely. Your choice of clothing should be flattering but not overpowering. Changes with uniforms are also encouraged.

Ladies: We suggest that you bring a variety of clothing to your session. We recommend a traditional dress outfit for your formal and then a selection of casual outfits that best show your personality. Evening dresses and gowns are also encouraged. Darker solids usually work best for your formal portrait. Off the shoulder dresses are nice, but avoid tan lines. A variety of drapes will also be available for you.

Gentlemen: Make sure that you are clean-shaven before your session. Retouching can hide blemishes but not razor stubble.  Mustaches or beards should also be neatly trimmed. We suggest that you bring several outfits to your session. If you are unsure what looks best we'll be happy to help you decide. For a formal session we recommend a tuxedo, suit or sport coat. We will also offer you a variety of tuxedo jackets, shirts and ties. Make sure that your shirt is pressed to avoid wrinkles. Casual outfits are best kept to solid colors. Denim, white, black, and solid earth tones almost always look good. Casual clothing allows you greater variety as well as expressing your personality.

Hair: Hair styling should be appropriate to the clothing selection. Avoid new hairstyles or having your hair cut or permed the week before your appointment to allow your hair to adjust to the change. If you would like to change your hairstyle during your session, this can add a little more variety to your photographs. It should, however, be a simple change that can be done quickly. Please bring along your own comb and or brush.

Makeup: Makeup for photographs should be only slightly heavier than normal. Too much makeup tends to give you a painted look, too little might not show off features. A loose translucent powder is helpful to eliminate shine especially for oily skin. Since most portraits concentrate on the eyes, great care should be taken to your eyes. Avoid using excessively bright colors and mascara should be neat.

Grooming: Nails should be clean and manicured.

Props: We strongly encourage using props that have special meaning to you. We invite you to bring any props you would like to use during your session. Letter jackets, musical instruments, sports outfits & equipment, uniforms are good examples. Pets are even OK but please; no snakes! A pet carrier is recommended and you must enter / exit our rear outside door with all pets. Pets are not permitted in the mall.

Seniors: Make sure to bring your senior ring, or try to borrow one if you have not received yours. Please also refer to the props section above.

Children and infants: We strongly encourage parents to bring multiple outfits and props such as favorite toys, books, caps, hats or bonnets. Shoes are not of great issue, as we often suggest barefoot poses for children. We have a diaper changing station in our "necessary" room.

Zits: Our retouching will take care of them for you. Don’t cancel your appointment because of a small blemish.

Braces: Our retoucher can even remove braces! There is an extra charge for this service.

Teeth: Teeth should be properly cleaned, and if your appointment session is scheduled after a meal you might want to bring along your toothbrush & paste.

Tanning: When scheduling your session, consider skin coloring. Putting your session off until late in the season may not be a good idea if you lose your tan quickly. Healthy summer skin color usually photographs better. If you choose to tan prior to your session, don't allow yourself to burn, peeling skin is difficult to retouch. Do however avoid clothing choices which will show tanning lines in the pictures. They can be removed, however there is a charge.

You can bring a friend or relative: There is no additional charge with our sessions to include some poses with friends & relatives as part of your session. Retouching if necessary, for additional people is however additional.
